Elysium was made possible from over 10 years of scientific research
The convergence of design and science
In 2002, British furniture designer Dr David Wickett set out to create a chair that would deliver true weightlessness.
In this pursuit, he carried out 10 years of research in biomedical engineering, becoming one of the few designers to make the transition to science.
From his research, he developed a mathematical model defining posture under gravitational force. That model became the patented Elysium technology.
